Imperial Russian Silver Gilt Cloisonne Polychrome Enamel Egg

  
In very good condition, a cloisonne enamel silver gilt egg. Lovely muted tones and gentle decoration of a swan on water complement the richness of work and design. The egg opens with a amethyst cabochon thumb piece, to reveal a gilt interior.

Both sides bear Russian silver marks for 88 grade silver, roughly equivalent to 91 %, just below our sterling standard. (the 88 grade was the grade also used by Faberge). The female head mark dates it as post 1908, pre 1926 (effectively 1908 - 1917) town mark for Moscow. Size 60mm x 45 mm.
