The word ephemera is derived from the sixteenth century Greek word ephmera meaning a printed or hand written paper not meant to be retained for a long period of time. Written from Paris in Russian and addressed to his adopted daughter who was staying with at the home of his mother Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna at Frogmore Cottage, accompanied by its original envelope, dated 16th May 1926.
