The word ephemera is derived from the sixteenth century Greek word ephmera meaning a printed or hand written paper not meant to be retained for a long period of time. Fine antique signed photo by Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna, sister of Tsar Nicholas II, signed in black ink "Ksenia", annotated on the reverse in another hand stating it was sent from Ksenia Alexandrovna chip off the old.
